GoKart Umbrella Holder

Jun 20 2008

We’re getting well on the way with the design work for our umbrella holder. It’s the most requested accessory, and we apologise for taking so long to get it into production. We’re aiming to have it in available later this year, but that does depend on whether are any issues after it’s been prototyped. We can confirm it will be compatible with all GoKarts though, and we’ll let you have more news as soon as possible. In the meantime, here are a few pictures to show how it’ll work.GoKart Umbrella Holder 1GoKart Umbrella Holder 2GoKart Umbrella Holder 3

Hi Alan, We’re sorry but we really don’t have ex demos now.

  • 119. alan miller Says:

Hi there do you have any ex-demos for sale?
    Thanks Alan

  • 118. GoKart Says:

Not for the moment but we’ll make a note to drop you an email the moment we have any news. Could be a while though.

could you please send me the Umbrella holder also the buggy seat if possible thank you

  • 114. GoKart Says:

    Hello again Heather,
We’re really sorry to hear that your posh brolley won’t fit our holder. That’s a real shame. We did try to make it ‘one-size fits-all’ but sadly there is a maximum handle diameter of 35mm. Can you beg/borrow or steal a loaner until our lovely one is ready at the end of March?

  • 113. Heather Says:

I got the umbrella holder today but the umbrella dose not fit any one had the same problem its a really good umbrella so now have to get a new umbrella that will fit

  • 112. GoKart Says:

    Hi Heather,
All ready to order now on the accessory page of the shop – £19 plus £4 postage and packing. Sorry you had a soggy Sunday.

  • 111. Heather Says:

Could hnave done with it on Sunday when it was raining hard any sign of it being ready yet

  • 110. Terry Says:

Strange how most people are asking for it when most of the weather at the moment is cold and freezing and not raining. So a Feb/March/April delivery time I would have thought perfect. Next December I hear that the umbrella holder will have the option for an electric 2 bar heater. I did the engeineering thing and buy a universal brolley folder for 14.99 back in August and it fitted pretty well. Will buy the go-kart holder when Sandy gives the all clear as I’m sure that when it does come out it will do exactly what it supposed to, not break, stay up, easy to fit. Which I’m sure you will agree is not an easy engineering task giving some of our windy conditions. I may even get it free for being so positive!!!

  • 109. GoKart Says:

    Peter,
We’re anticipating the brolly holder will be available late Jan or early Feb. We’ll let you know through our newsletter as soon as it’s in.
The seat should be around the same time.

  • 108. Peter Jacklin Says:

I there anymore news on when it will be availible? also when will the seat be back in stock?

  • 107. GoKart Says:

    David,
We’re hoping to have it ready late January or early February. It’s been a long haul getting it right, but we’re nearly there.

  • 106. David Southern Says:

This is the only feature which was stopping me from purchasing one of these karts. For me this feature is essential when looking at yardage charts and deciding what shot to play in inclement weather.
When in 2009 do you expect to roll this feature out?

  • 105. GoKart Says:

    Hi Peter,
We rather like being open and letting customers know what we’ve got planned, and it seemed (then) that the timeframe would be reasonable. The design process turned out to be far lengthier that we’d all planned. With hindsight yes, we blabbed too early. Frustrating all round.
And we’re hoping it’ll be ready for the end of this month/early Feb. Great way of ensuring a dry spring. Ooooh did we mention our new brolley? (note to self SHUT UP!)

  • 104. Peter Wood Says:

You are paying the price for raising expectations. Mail after mail castigating you for not delivering an umbrella holder. This wouldn’t have happened if you’d kept shtum and just astonished us with an announcement about availability when the time came.
    So where is it then?
    Peter Wood

  • 103. GoKart Says:

    Marjorie,
This post was made 20/06/08. We estimated we’d have the umbrella holder available during 2008. We’ve overrun unfortunately, but hope to have it ready late this month or early next. It is designed to be fitted as an accessory, so there’s no problem in fitting it after you get a GoKart

  • 102. Marjorie Afzal Says:

When was this page posted? When you say the umbrella holder will be available later in the year, do you mean 2008 or 2009. I am eager to order a new trolly from you. If I ordered a trolly would I be able to fit the umbrella holder myself at a later date when it becomes available?

  • 101. GoKart Says:

    Tom,
It’s very overdue now, and we’re really sorry about that. It could be ready late January, but it may end up being February.

  • 100. Tom Says:

Can you give me a month inwhich you think the holder will be released?

  • 99. GoKart Says:

    Paul,
Your first message wasn’t removed, we just get behind in updating the comments sometimes.
Yes, we’re very frustrated at the delay too. There was a technical problem with the tooling, and further work was required after the first tool trial. We’re very close now and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s in stock. We’re determined not to put a date on this because until the finished production item in our hands we won’t know for sure it’s exactly right.
We hoped to have it finished months ago, but thank you for your patience.

  • 98. paul Says:

Why did you remove my last post ? I’ll repost it shall I ?
Why is it taking so long for the umbrella holder? You have been promising this for ages now.
the design is signed off and tooling started in September … whats the hold up
My mates have PowerKaddies and I love its brolley holder … I actually have trolley envy ;o(

  • 97. Paul Says:

Come on fella’s – you’ve been promising the Umbrella holder for ages now .. this is the time of year when us die hard golfers really need it !!
I’m looking at the PowerKaddy with envious eyes .. Yes I’m starting to get trolley envy ;o(
How about a date for when these will be out
    cheers
    Paul

  • 96. David Moore Says:

Hi there, I have found that my umbrella fits snugly between the top bag holder and the frame. The tip of the brolly fits on the top ridged front wheel cover. This seemed to do the trick on the last few rainy outings

  • 95. GoKart Says:

    Dear Ling,
We’re sorry to hear that this is causing such a problem for you. Yes, we agree, in some cloggy conditions having to clear the wheel can be a real pain, and we’re working on getting an improved front end into production as soon as possible – we’ll let you know when it’s available.
GoKart is a small and very new company. We all work very hard and are genuinely committed to making the trolley perfect. We do our best to back that up with excellent service, and feel that being honest, open and treating people fairly is the way to go. When we make mistakes, we own up to them and put them right. But if, in addition to this, we were expected to offer what is effectively compensation it could potentially make our progress as a growing business very difficult.
We hope you understand and can bear with us while we get this improvement perfected and into production.

  • 94. Ling Williams Says:

I am disappointed with the awful clogging front wheel.very distracting as you have to keep poking the mud and leaves whilst trying to get on with the golf.Hands then get terribly mucky trying to remove the rubbish to allow the wheel to run properly. When is the new replacement as promised? Perhaps you should throw in the transit bag for goodwill gesture. ling

  • 93. GoKart Says:

    Heather,
Sorry to hear about this. We’re trying to think of things you could use it for instead, but the best we’ve got so far is a small vase. You could clamp it to the edge of the table, and it would be hard for small children to knock over? Very practical? OK it’s not brilliant, but we’re working on it.
Work on our brolly holder is continuing at a feverish pace, but still no date for release unfortunately. We’ll keep you posted.

  • 92. Heather Says:

I wish I knew that before I bought a unaversial umbrella holder for my sons GoKart then could not get my money back so am really cross

  • 91. GoKart Says:

    Hi John,
Unfortunately non of the branded or off-the-shelf brolley holders will fit the GoKart. They’re all designed for the more usual tubular framed trolleys.

  • 90. John Wyatt Says:

I have a Powercaddie unbrella holder will this fit my new GoKart ?

  • 89. GoKart Says:

    Graham,
We’ll certainly let you know as soon a we have the brolly holder and wheels ready.
Talking of drafts (the moulding version, as opposed to the windy type), the attachment onto the handle utilises the draft angle on both parts as tapers that tighten onto the handle as the two parts are drawn together with the fixing screws.
In the rotational joints there are radial serrations on both mating faces that are pulled together with a threaded knob, so the draft isn’t an issue here (brrrr…now shut that door!)

  • 88. Graham Lewis Says:

I bought a GoKart for my wife and she loves it. Please can I be informed when the umbrella holder is available because it is the one accessory she is envious of, on my Power Caddy.
I assume you are making use of the draft angles so that when the locking screw is tightened the draft on mating parts is used to pull the parts together and so negate any tolerances.
My wife is also interested in the new wheels.

  • 87. Nigel Baxter Says:

Brilliant if this will be out in time for Christmas! I have been hoping that this accessory will be available soon.
I was lucky enough to win a Go Kart earlier this year and couldn’t be more pleased but after todays weather I really want toget an umbrella holder.

  • 86. GoKart Says:

    Dear Robin,
We’re every bit as keen to get the brolley holder ready as you are to use it! As with all things plastic moulded, the design and production process has to be incredibly precise and the nature of that is (frustratingly) slow. The bracket is made up of many many different parts, each of which have to be tooled, moulded, tested and fit perfectly with each other. We wish it were straightforward but it’s not. Rest assured we’re pushing ahead as fast as we can, fingers are truly extracted…

  • 85. Robin Corbett Says:

I bought the Go Kart in the summer, liked the design, the materials & the fact that it is designed & built in the UK, also was impressed with the customer service backup. The only doubt I had was no Umbrella Holder, this was allayed by the promise of a holder being available in September so I bought one & so far I am delighted. however I am still waiting for an Umbrella Holder. I’ve seen the designs on the website read all the responses & would echo Hugo Pelens sentiment “digit extraction time peeps.”

  • 84. GoKart Says:

    Susan,
Unfortunately we still don’t have a date yet. The design is signed off and the tooling is currently in production. We’re hoping to have it available before the end of the year. We’ll keep you informed of progress via our newsletter

  • 83. susan viney Says:

I would like to get an umbrella holder, when will they be available.?

  • 82. Hugo Pelens Says:

Bought the Kart – excellent bit of kit, and sooooo cool! But I’m getting wet so digit extraction time peeps!

  • 81. Graham Tatum Says:

Just palyed in the Carnoustie Tassie with a Dutchman and an American both were raving about my blue go-kart and wanted me to sell it to them. No chance !

  • 80. Mark Tomlin Says:

Great idea, the umbrella holder and the trolley bag. All we need now is some free umbrellas for the whole set, in matching colours. Still no show on the football/sports logos on the batteries.

  • 79. Stafford Dunn Says:

Brolley grip is an excellent development. I have overcome problems of a ‘shaped golf bag’ by using velcro straps on either side of top and lower end of trolley. This was essential because my existing golf bag is triangular in shape (carrybag with stand) having found the lower bag strap too tight and difficult to unlock/relock. The supplied clips were found to be too tight, yet did not prevent bag rotating and so did not allow clubs to sit correctly and be removed and replaced easily. Your new bag might be an improvement provided we dont lose space in the car boot by it being too big!

  • 78. GoKart Says:

    Sue,
We don’t have a fixed date I’m afraid. It’s looking like around year end at the moment.

  • 77. sue elbourn Says:

please when do you think this umbrella will be ready

  • 76. Chris Davies Says:

Hi, please hurry up with this golf bag, the trolley looks so cool, but it needs a bag to match

  • 75. Alan Currie Says:

The problem I have with my current trolley bag is the zips for the two side pockets catch on the top bag support. Usually when I need to open them to get out my waterproofs when it’s raining :(
A bag designed especially for the trolley is a great idea. Ideally with some type of anti-twist gizmo.

  • 74. alexandra wickett Says:

I love my Kart, not too fussed about having a brolley holder, but a drink bottle holder would be really useful. I agree with other comments – i get through loads of tees – especially when (if ever) it is dry and just two holes for them is not enough. I also find that when i put the kart in my boot the balls pop out and i then have to scrabble around looking for them, Not dignified when yu are 5′ 2″. Please bear in mind that tees also come in a variety of thicknesses – not all fit in the holes provided.
    Alex

  • 73. Alan Currie Says:

Just noticed you’ve got a seat for the barmaid in the aceessories list. That’s just the six pack holder you need to work on :)

  • 72. Alan Currie Says:

I want one, I want one.
And a six pack holder on the other side and a seat on the wheel for the barmaid to sit on and pour me my beer.
I appreciate that may take a little longer to design than th brolly holder but I’m a patient man.

  • 71. Steve Wareham Says:

Can you please let me know when this is available.

  • 70. Barbara Murray Says:

Great news just in time wih the summer we are having here n Ireland
    Barbara

  • 69. Geoff Cackett Says:

Delighted to hear that a GoKart golf bag is in the pipeline. When designing, please ensure that the edge which rests on the bag holder is flat rather than rounded. Most so-called caddy car bags have a rounded section so that the bag twists sideways.

  • 68. GoKart Says:

    John,
We still can’t give a date, I’m afraid. It should be towards the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted.

  • 67. John Carrell Says:

    Hi,
Any further forward with the brolly holder.

  • 66. GoKart Says:

    Dear Bär,
Yes, it will be available in Holland. We’ll keep you posted

  • 65. Bär Says:

An umbrella holder is a good idea. Will the Dutch dealer sell them too, and when?

  • 64. craig sclare Says:

    hello,
i see the chat about a brolly holder – good news – how about a GK brolly itself? loud colours of course.
PS the CAD drawings…. i like the multi coloured trolley – will you pimp my current trolley please to look like that?? i think the pimped trolley would be very cool!
    regards, craig
ps in case this is of any use as a selling point – your trolley is better than previous owned trolleys and actually fits in the front boot of my 2 seater!

  • 63. Linda Manning Says:

Look forward to the brolly holder. The bag should have an insulated pocket to keep drinks cool for those rare occastions when we have sun.

  • 62. Russell Stagg Says:

    Hi
    2 comments.
    1. The golf bag should be large, be completely coverable from the rain (ie a hood)
and easy to remove the clubs from.
    2. The Umbrella holder is a great idea and I can’t wait to order one – so the bag needs a brolley holding place – pref outside the bag.

  • 61. GoKart Says:

    Hi David,
Yes we’ll let you know when the brolly holder is ready. There won’t be a parking brake in the forseeable future; more likely on the next model. This one’s the ‘no frills’ version, we rather like the keep it simple principle. What was suggestion number 2?

  • 60. David Hughes Says:

Having bought a pink trolley for my wife am now ordering one for myself and a friend. The umbrella holder is a great idea, please let me know when it is available. Also two other suggestions: 1 somesort of parking brake, as chasing the trolley down the mountain is not fun. 2

  • 57. GoKart Says:

    Hi Val,
Yes, there’ll be a selection of matching golf bags later this year. We’re designing them right now. We’d be very interested to hear from customers just exactly what they think is important in a trolley bag so that we can tick all the boxes. So messages on that subject very welcome.

  • 56. Val Graham Says:

Have you any plans to produce a matching golf bag

  • 55. Nick Procter Says:

Put me down for one please.

  • 54. Paul Sadotti Says:

Hi chaps/Sandy – when you get umbrella holder ready can you email me please -a lightning conductor might also be a good idea at the mo.!
    Cheers – Paul

  • 53. GoKart Says:

    John,
Yes we do have ex-demo models for sale from time to time that sell for £150 (instead of £199) for the trolley, 18 hole battery and charger. All up to current spec and covered by the usual year warranty. We don’t have any at the moment but we’re happy to drop you a line when we have one (or a choice of colours) available.
Apart from the ex-demo ones, £199 is as low as we go – once you’ve got your hands on one you’ll agree it’s very good value for money.
    The set with a 36 hole battery is £229 – it’s a 24 Ah.

  • 52. John Wyatt Says:

Do you have any ex demonstration or loan machines for sale ?
If so what is your very best price. Also 36ah battery price.
    thank you
    John

  • 51. GoKart Says:

    Hi Mas
Yep, we have that nasty wet stuff in Kent as well. Chucking it down this morning…we’re getting the brolley holder ready as fast as poss…Autumn time. Tooling takes a while and fine tuning. Important to get it right…

  • 50. Mas Says:

    Hi
Do you have a date in mind for the brolley holder? We are having something called rain here in Manchester which almost unheard of! Thanks

  • 49. steve dalloway Says:

Hi sandy – Happy to test any umbrella holder for you.
    Nice looking CAD design.
    Best regards,
    Steve Dalloway

  • 48. GoKart Says:

Not yet, Darryl. Does it only ever rain when he uses the trolley? Can you ask him to stop playing at weekends please…

  • 47. Daryl Torkington Says:

Hi Is the umbrella holder for sale yet?? My ex keeps borrowing my trolley and he really needs this item.

  • 46. Mair Says:

Just had to contact GoKart cos Ruby hasn’t been well!!. Cannot believe the reaction, she is being collected tomorrow, and a replacement provided whilst she is made better. (actually shouldn’t use the word replacement it might upset her and set back her recovery). What service. Everybody admires her, and although she has only been with me for 5 months we have been around LOADS of times. – sad person me, plays golf almost every day. I am thrilled with Ruby and the service you provide, yes I will buy a brolly holder and a drinks holder and anything else cos I just love having all the bits. Highly reccommend the carry bag by the way keeps everything tidy in the boot. Oh and did you know!!! the GoKart is the only trolley that can fit into my Peugot 206cc with the roof down.
    Regards,
    Mair

  • 45. Brian Hunwicke Says:

I have had my Kart now for some 16 months and am well pleased with its performance and the after sales service – only minus is it hasn’t done much for my golf . Can I suggest your engineers look at modifying the wheels by getting rid of the spokes – make all the wheels solid to aid ease of cleaning. Also the front wheel needs to be of solid construction to also aid cleaning. Thanks for a great product.

  • 44. GoKart Says:

    Hi Jos,
As soon as we’ve got it made – so later on this year.

  • 43. Jos Says:

    Hi there,
When is the umbrella holder available in the Netherlands?
    Regards,
    Jos

  • 42. Bill Wood Says:

Well if I have anymore folk admiring MY go-kart then I shall have to start charging for viewing.
I am extremely happy with all aspects of this “bit of kit”.
Lokk forward to the brolly holder AND the trolley bag. You deserve to advertise on my wheels.

  • 41. Tom Banks Says:

I’ve owned my Go Kart about 16 months, still going well.
The modification to the front wheel cover to help prevent a build up of mud is working well.
The brolly holder looks interesting, I look foreward to seeing it in production. I’ve not used one before after seeing the main tube that supports the brolly holder and the control handle snap off from a trolley from a well known co.( It also cost twice the price of a Go Kart)
Most of my fellow golfers think the Go kart is more expensive than it is.
I do get the odd comic refer to it as a DYSON, but they were pretty successfull so it does not bother me.
Keep up the good work and I wish you continuing success.
    Tom Banks

  • 40. Ace Says:

Count me in for the holly bolder! What we want is Watney’s er beverage holder. Essential to carry a tin of phew I needed that out here in the desert! Brolly is an absolutely essential in the summer to keep the rays from browning our coolness!

  • 39. GoKart Says:

I think for the moment they’ll just be boring black – I’m sorry! But if our moulders have a funny five minutes and manage to tip some wild colouring into the mix, I promise you can have a colourful one, ok?

  • 38. Duncan Macleod Says:

In designing the brolly holder, please bear in mind that many of us golfers are over 6′ tall and as such the mechanism needs to be set high on the handle. Alternatively, (and probably easier!) is to develop a brolly with either a longer shaft or transparent rain cover, or indeed both!

  • 37. Keith Says:

Please put me on the waiting list for the brolley holder after the summer we have had so farI will definatly need it in the winter.
Not sure if anybody has asked but will they be colour coded to match the funk Karts

  • 36. GoKart Says:

    Gordon,
Yes, we’re planning a drinks holder to sit on the handle, opposite the brolly holder (they can go either side, they’ll be ambidextrous). We haven’t really considered a separate widget holder There are the tee and ball holders on the handle…drop us a line and tell us ideally what you’d want it to carry and we’ll get thinking….

  • 35. Gordon Mileham Says:

Hi, my friends and I have got this Kart and we are all very pleased with it… I am glad to see an umberella holder will soon be available. Are there any plans to design a drinks holder and more importantly a well designed detachable comprehensive tee holder? I hate rooting around in my pockets for tee’s, ball markers and pitch mark repairers.

  • 34. GoKart Says:

When the bag and clubs are in place there’s a lot more weight for stability, but yes, in a gale you’re going to look like Mary Poppins with a brolly attached to any trolley. Point taken about the tee holders, and we’re looking at the ball holders too.
Interesting what you say about people thinking it’s pricey. Anyone else get that impression? Another common misconception is that people think it looks too ‘designed’ to be British. We’re happy to put them right!

  • 33. Christopher Stagg Says:

Yes please to the umbrella holder but could you turn the wind down a bit – the trolley is very light! So far as I’m concerned you can design out the ball holders (the balls fall out and travel further than most of my pitches) and the T-peg holders which are not ‘universal’ enough and split.
But overall, well into my second season, having played all through the winter, it has been a great success. Lots of people have remarked favourably about it, but the perception is that it is very expensive, a misconception that I do my very best to correct. Perhaps a bit of fine tuning of the marketing is in order.

  • 32. GoKart Says:

    Hi Sue,
We reckon that the brolly holder will cost between £15 and £20. And it was St. Swithin’s day yesterday and it didn’t rain (well at least it didn’t rain on GKHQ) so that’s a good sign.

  • 31. Sue Pearse Says:

I have had my GoKart for nerly 3 months now, and absolutely love it. I have also had lots of admiring comments from my fellow golfers, some of whom asked where they could get one. However all of them (including myself) wondered about an umbrella holder attachment, as the generic ones on the market would not fit the chunky GoKart frame. I am very pleased to hear that you have one in the pipeline, please also let me know when this will be available (what will the approximate cost be?). Hopefully the rain can hold off until you have perfected this accessory!

  • 30. GoKart Says:

Well I think we’ve sort of forgiven you for calling it a barrow…
Yes brolly placement on the trolley can be a pain, depending on the bag. But when we have our GoKart bag available…yes you’d already guessed, we have one up our sleeves for later on this year. And it’s shaping up to be rather a desirable bit of kit.
We’ll let everyone know when it’s ready for sale.

  • 29. Peter Wood Says:

Brolly holders are OK for people who feel they have to play in the rain. But I like to carry mine (tightly rolled, of course) on the bag, just in case. It may be a bag design fault, but I can’t get at the brolly once the rig is up and running.
I’m willing to bet that you have thought about designing a bag to go with the barrow. Let me know what you are doing about it.
And although the envious members of my swindle rag on about “Fisher Price”, we are now three who flaunt the Magic Machine (Shooters Hill GC, London, in case you wondered).

  • 28. Kerri McGill Says:

Hi there I love my go-kart too. Nobody thought it would cope with the hills on my course but it does. I would also like to know when the brolly holder is available as I am small and all brollies are too big for me to hold but if fixed to the the trolley. Magic!!! Please let me know when I can get one. kerri

  • 27. Chris Ball Says:

I have had my gocart for a couple of months now and I am very pleased. It also attracts many comments ( all favourable).
Can’t wait to get the brolley holder. Any chance they might be colour coordinated? I am sure that would attract even more comments and interest.

  • 26. Heather Milward Says:

Have had my lovely Go Kart since last Christmas and I love it. Get loads of comments (good ones) from people I golf with. I can’t use a brolly and golf at the same time so please let me know when you’re holder is ready. As my grandkids would say “It looks cool”.

  • 25. Peter Harston Says:

I tend not to play in the rain any more, but just in case I’m caught out there, I’m having a brolly holder when they’re ready.

  • 24. Bianca Skelly Says:

GoKart could be the best idea ever i would love one for my trolley. Cause all it done since i got the trolley is rain and i hate to hold the brolley makes everything a lot harder for you.
Cause you got to keep putting the brolley down then up once you hit your shot – DRIVES ME MAD.

Just a comment about the umbrella holder. no doubt you have had many, and I’m sure lots you could have done without,
I had a power Kaddy with the umbrella holder and I found that with the bigger umbrellas it is a bit unstable. Usually when we get rain it is also a bit windy and the brolley tends to move about a lot, to the extent that I stopped using it.

Put me down for one of these please. I’ve had my GoKart for 18 months now, and I still love it just as much as the day it came. It outruns every other trolley my playing partners have, and how I laugh when their batteries run out on the 14th hole.
I’ve given up using a brolly because of the pain in the bum that is trying to manage it in the wind/rain. A holder would be a Godsend.
Keep it up, GoKart team –
    Mark.

I have just fitted a brolley holder with resonable success. It’s OK in operation but I havn’t overcome the fact that it sticks out when the trolley is folded because I jambed the tube on too tight initially so I can’t unscrew it. I will have a proper one when available. I’ll send you a picture.
    Regards
    Dave

As soon as the brolley holder is ready please send me one for my good lady wife. Both trolleys are working just fine and still attact comment on the course.

I would gladly trial any prototype umbrella holder if you wish it to be tested in the field (sorry on the Golf Course)

  • 17. Nik Blesic Says:

Hi all, i’ve had my GoKart for about 1 year and the thing is fantastic. It’s so quick and easy to put up and put away.. The battery is still going strong and the trolley still manages to pull my tired and aching bones up the long slog of our 554yd 18th hole!!
    Umbrella holder, yes please.
    Cheers.

I am interested in getting a umbrella holder and don’t mind testing it for you if you would like me to. Living in the North East i could certainly test it in the gale force wind and rain that often happens at the weekends just as I finish work on a friday.

After 44 years in Bermuda, I came back to the UK, (everybody says “Why?”). Things are “not the same”. After watching the “Brits” and most things British falling back, I believe that, in golf at least, we are beginning to be a top nation again. The Ryder Cup is an example. OK, Asia is now the factory of the world, but it is nice to see a product like Gokart is British. I was rthe first to import an electric golf trolley, “Powercaddy”, into Bermuda, much to the derision of the natives, and I followed some years later with the first Hillbilly. I don’t have the chance to do the same with Gokart but I am sure it will blaze a trail there. It’s a”natural” (I now have two! Bought one , won one, Gave it to my golfing buddy,of course). More sttrength to you, Gokart.

Charging time is very quick ebven for t hammer it atkes on my quite hilly course.
    Brolly holder looks real cool.

  • 11. Loz Says:

colour coded to match the battery cover maybe? A step further, how about a brolly as well? Now if you’re looking for a marketing director …… it depends on the package, a free brolly and you’re in the ball park!

  • 10. Richard Larder Says:

Brilliant News about the Brolly Holder !
As soon as One is available I will purchase one with urgency and then thr rain will stop and we will all enjoy sunny and fine weather for the rest of the year

  • 9. Bill Kellie Says:

Looking at brolly holder ….a request i was going to send having just got my go-kart.
Yours looks like everyone elses …as a suggestion why not put it across the handle where the ball holder sits. It would look more in keeping, be stronger as it sits across both sides, less of a problem when in use.
By the way what a belting peice of kit…… everyone now wants one

Had a Gokart for four weeks now and loving it – looks a lot better than those over priced and overweight metallic terminators on the golf course. Yes, I look forward to the umbrella accessory – in dark gry to match my Gokart? Peter

I’ve had my GoKart for nearly 2 years and not only does it still do what it says on the tin, it still looks the same (no wear and tear) Wish I could say that about me!

  • 6. Chris Rimmer Says:

My Go Kart is excellent. Will do 27 holes easily on a standard battery.
I need a brolly holder also and your design seems to show it will articulate in different directions. Should be good but need it now due to English summer!! Can you make sure the holder diameter exceeds 40mm?
Most brollies with a decent grip have a pommel end. The method of fixing this in to your socket is the crucial part of the design. I cannot see from your pictures how this works but it needs to be robust!
Keep up the good work. Might see you at the Open?
    Regards.

    Hi Betsy,

yes we’ll certainly get in touch with you when the brolly holder is ready, we’ll drop you a line and also include a feature about it in a newsletter. We can’t set the trolley to freewheel behind you though, so that you could pull it behind like a manual trolley. The gearing wouldn’t enjoy that very much.

  • 2. Betsy Yewdall Says:

Please let me know when you have this umbrella holder available. I would love one.
Also, can the trolley be adjusted to freewheeel in reverse?
    Thanks
    Betsy

I have had my GoKart now for about 6 weeks, & I can tell you “it does exactly what it says on the tin” :-D
I am extremely happy with it, many admiring comments for fellow hackers (sorry golfers). Especially regarding the pretty green colour I had, which camouflages me in the rough! Some have likened the gearbox cover to the nose cone of a F1 racing car.
Anyway glad to see that the unbrella holder is coming along, currently I cannot seem to find an umbrella holder that will do the job on my gokart and so I have had to resort in carrying my brolley in wet & windy weather.
Thanks again excellent golf trolley, not improved my golf much, but i’m not so knackered by the end of the round!
